Ingredients

  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 150 g sugar
  • 100 ml extra virgin olive oil
  • 100 ml dry white wine

  • Sunflower oil, for frying
  • Powdered sugar, to decorate

Step-by-step preparation

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and sugar.
  2. Add the eggs, olive oil and white wine and mix well until a soft dough forms.
  3. Add the aniseed and knead the dough for a few minutes.
  4. Let the dough rest for about 30 minutes in a cool place.
  5. Heat the sunflower oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  6. Shape the dough into rings and fry them in the hot oil until golden on both sides.
  7. Remove the doughnuts with a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar and serve.

These fried aniseed doughnuts are a lovely choice for dessert or an afternoon snack. The aniseed gives them a unique, aromatic flavor, and their soft yet crisp texture is irresistible.
