Sweet pepper jam

  • 6 ingredients
  • 7 steps

Ingredients

  • 1 kg red and yellow bell peppers, seeded and chopped
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder

Step-by-step preparation

  1. In a large pot, mix the peppers, sugar, red wine vinegar, salt, black pepper and chili powder.
  2. Heat over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar has completely dissolved.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for about 60–90 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the peppers are soft and the mixture has thickened and reduced to a jam.
  4. Remove the pot from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a food processor and blend until smooth.
  6. Pour the jam into sterilized jars and seal the lids tightly.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, until completely cool and ready to serve.

Enjoy your sweet pepper jam! It’s perfect with cheese and meats or spread on toast. Try different peppers and spices for your own variations.
