Easy apple tart

  • 6 ingredients
  • 9 steps

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 3–4 Granny Smith apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 beaten egg
  • Powdered sugar, to decorate (optional)

Step-by-step preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 °C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
  3. Arrange the apple slices on top of the pastry, leaving about 2.5 cm (1 inch) clear around the edges.
  4. Sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon over the apples.
  5. Fold the edges of the pastry over the apples to form a tart.
  6. Brush the tart with the beaten egg.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the tart is golden and the apples are soft.
  8. Let the tart cool for a few minutes before serving.
  9. If you like, dust the tart with a little powdered sugar before serving.

Enjoy a sweet, crisp apple tart. Add chopped walnuts or raisins for extra flavor, adjust the sugar and cinnamon to taste, and serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a cup of hot tea.
