Tuscan zuccotto
- 8 ingredients
- 9 steps
Ingredients
To make Tuscan zuccotto you’ll need
- 12–16 ladyfingers
- 1/2 cup almond liqueur, such as Amaretto or Disaronno
- 1/2 cup candied fruit, such as orange or cherries
- 1/2 cup chopped almonds
- 1 cup mascarpone
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Step-by-step preparation
Start by lining a dome-shaped bowl with plastic wrap. Cut the ladyfingers to fit the bowl and dip them in the almond liqueur.
Arrange the soaked ladyfingers in the lined bowl so they completely cover the bottom and sides.
Mix the candied fruit and chopped almonds in a bowl. Set aside a little to decorate the zuccotto at the end.
In another bowl, combine the mascarpone, heavy cream, powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Whip until smooth and creamy.
Add the fruit and almond mixture to the mascarpone cream and mix well.
Pour the mascarpone and fruit filling into the bowl lined with ladyfingers. Cover with more soaked ladyfingers and press down gently so everything is well packed.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
Once the zuccotto has set and chilled, carefully turn it out and decorate it with the reserved fruit and almonds. You can dust a little cocoa powder on top for extra flavor.
Tuscan zuccotto is a delicious, sophisticated dessert for any special occasion, or for treating yourself to something elegant.
