Melon sorbet

  • 4 ingredients
  • 8 steps

Ingredients

To make melon sorbet you’ll need

  • 1 ripe melon, peeled and seeded
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice

Step-by-step preparation

Cut the melon into small pieces and put it in a food processor or blender. Blend until smooth.

In a small saucepan, mix the sugar and water and heat over medium heat until the sugar has completely dissolved. Let it cool to room temperature.

Add the syrup and lemon juice to the melon purée and mix well.

Pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container and freeze for 2–3 hours, until it has firmed up slightly but can still be stirred with a spoon.

Take the container out of the freezer and stir with a spoon to break up the ice crystals and keep the texture smooth.

Return the container to the freezer for another 2–3 hours, stirring every half hour to keep the texture smooth.

Once the sorbet is completely frozen, serve it in glasses or bowls, garnished with fresh mint leaves or pieces of melon if you like.

Melon sorbet is a refreshing, healthy treat for hot summer days. It’s a light, low-calorie alternative to traditional ice cream and a delicious way to enjoy the sweet, fresh flavor of melon.
